Kim's Biography
Kim Gryba
Kim is considered to be one of the top drummers in Edmonton. She has devoted many hours to this profession and it shows. On the latest release, Fortissimo, Kim's drumming gives the album a solid backbone and yet shines right along with the voices and guitars.
She has played since the age of eight. Her father purchased a Maxwin drum kit for her to play at the age of ten. By jr.high, she had her first band which featured the hits if Iron Maiden, Mega Death, Rush and The Police. Her favorite way to practice while growing up was to play along with tapes. We always wondered how she knew all the shots in "Once Bitten Twice Shy".
At the age of nineteen, Kim got her five piece Pearl kit. She made a point of attending the numerous blues jams held at The Commercial, and played with a plethora of bands. Kim's musical knowledge constantly challenges her band mates, and she is never satisfied with her skill level. At home she practices on a four-piece rubber kit. This keeps the neighbors happy.
Gear: Kim is the fourth Canadian and first female to have been endorsed by Taye Drums, she currently plays a six piece Taye kit. Kim uses Sabian cymbals and Vic Firth American Classic Rock sticks.
