fortissimo review from Mote Magazine:

Not surprising that their new album is called "loud" if you've kept up with Painting Daisies. I admit I hadn't. Folk-rock with whimsical songs from Daisy and sad songs from Rachelle, you could have dismissed them a couple years ago. It's been a while, and after touring across Canada many times and playing rock clubs and blues bars and getting ballsier and heavier, I was really surprised to see them rock the #*! out in Saskatoon.

Commanding the stage, strutting around, totally Rolling Stones with blistering slide guitar and all yelling and stuff. Where'd they get those chops? When did they start kicking ass? I thought they were a coffee shop band, all soft and sentimental and more inspired by the Indigo Girls than by White Zombie. There are some soft songs on this CD, and "The Church of Cosmotology", and it isn't until later in the CD do they start kicking ass like their live show. "Sheep" and "Eat Your Words" are fierce. "Walking Home Lately" has great and fast blues slide guitar from Rachelle. This was produced, mixed and engineered by Steve Loree of Greyhound Tragedy so the drums are huge and the bass is thundering. This is almost as good as seeing them live, and a lot more vigorous than their first album, Flambescence. It's like they aren't even from the same band. This is the product of years on the road, lots of sleazy clubs, huge festivals, and churning up a dancefloor.
