Comping and comping and comping- Sept. 30
Hi Everyone. Things are super grand except for the fact that my van is now producing a burning smell. Her name is "Big Muff" in honor of "Muffy the Highway Slayer". The recording is sounding killer. Joby is now comping "take me Right Back". Comping means going through all the parts and choosing the right ones. It is ZZ Top meets the Bangles. Lester Quitzau is coming in to put down some Strat and I am going to play sliderama on my Johnson (that's a guitar Kim!). I have new pics too at www.rachellevanzanten.com/gallery. The weather is beautiful here. Only one day of rain. I am going to go and take "Phonography" down to the radio station tomorrow as well as to the local rag. How are you guys liking the record? Recording out on the Coast- Sept. 21
Hi Everyone. I miss you. Having an awesome time recording out on the coast. Waynefest was great. Despite my crapping out cables, I had loads of fun and will miss my band during my stay out west. The Cd is going well. Today Rick May put down some sexy bass lines. Joby laid down some tabla and shaker and ping things. The sound is slightly lighter than the PD album and has a bit of a Ben Harper meets Gillian Welch vibe. I went swimming yesterday and am now getting sick. BAD IDEA. Kim, are you out there yet? Are you in the west? My van is crapping out. The door fell off and the muffler has a hole in it so it poisons me when I leave the windows open. I miss Muffy...she was the shit. Okay. So tired.
