Tight Pants Ain't Tight Anymore- April 30
The show at the ROxy was pretty cool. It was wonderful to play alongside Carolyn again. Her characterized playing style was much missed. After our set Kim and I busted over to The Rainbow to catch Lester Quitzau along with Rick May and Joby Baker. It was a great 4 songs. Lester is the king of guitar tone. I bow down. And the other 2...whoa! It was intense groove that is exactly what Lester needs.
So now I have to play a rock show donwstairs and I still don't have my rock pants on. They aren't tight anymore cuz I keep forgetting to eat. Mom, I love you. Dad... you too. See you in a week.
Tight Pants Packed- April 28
In 15 minutes i will be heading east with my beautiful band mates to rock the world of Ottawa, Ontario. I chose my tight black pants for the plane ride because I need to look rock n' roll in order to get those extra little cookies. Kim, did you bring your tight pants? Daisy? Carolyn?
Carolyn is back with us for Ottawa! Yay! I missed her. And she is bringing a little surprise with her. Life is beautiful.
So no more day job for a month. We all worked our petuties off for the last 5 months so that we could play rock n' roll. Kinda sad hey? Kind like farming really. It's a month long road trip... Beautiful British Columbia here we come...after Ottawa that is. I am truly looking forward to Haida Gwaii. My plan is to fall asleep on the beach. No wait, I tried that once and got washed away in the tide. Well, I'll consult a local first. Oh, and in Victoria, joby (our producer) is playing with us! Rumour has it that he is hauling out his super big Hammond B3 to play on our new tunes. And Marc Atkinson is also going to grace us with his amazing guitar playing. So excited.
Now, I have to pick up Dave and then bust a move to Mill Woods where the people live freely....
Nursing a Smoke Hangover- April 24
Mom, if you are reading this, no... I didn't take up smoking. I am feeling slightly blasee after a a hard night rock n' rolling. We played the Sidetrack last night. It was a full on ovaries to the wall show. i am learning about show day psychology. Sometimes I find it hard to play in the right head space to get the ideal outcome. Tapping into the inner core and letting everything else slip away. That's the trick. Most of the night was in the perverbial zone, while others weren't.
My band mates were stellar. The highlight of the night was when Daisy spanked her guitar. I can never keep a straight face when she goes into spanking mode.
And I found out that the guys from Ponoka are actually from a condo across the street. That was a big shocker!
So now I am drinking a latte and watching Jimi Hendrix live at Woodstock. Scheisse... when I look at the expression on his face, i know how he feels...I think. When he swears I know why...I think.
okay...time to get off the snuff. Kim was supposed to make me breakie this morning. KIM...WHERE ARE YOU? WHAT HAPPENED?! Drummers!
I Can't Sleep In April 24/2005
Hi all. Well I can't sleep in anymore. Up at flippin 8:30am today. It sucks. It must be because of our show tonight. Yup, that's it. The story is I am checking my emails, writing dates on my Microsoft Calender, drinking coffee, watching cartoons at the same time, "oh my god kids commercials are insane, doing laundry, cleaning the living room and I was talking on the phone earlier as well. " Crazy". " Oh ya, I have to take a shower sometime today". Can't wait to see you all tonight at the Sidetrack Cafe. It's going to be a rockin show. We are going to play our new stuff for you and shake the walls down. Alright see you soon.

One More Sleep- April 22
One More Sleep until we, PD, get to rock Edmonton. I am still indecisive as to which outfit I should wear. Perhaps stripes. Dunno. We are all sick of our day jobs so it's time to release the new album and BUST A MOVE OUTTA HERE! That's right. We are going to Ottawa next weekend and then to Haida Gwaii. It's abit out of the way but heck, we were never really good a routing anyway.
I look forward to tomorrow. Apparently I am going to get flashed by the Bag Ladies!
Tight Pants April 21/2005
Yes, I can't wait to get back on tour. How are ya all doing. Miss everyone. Well we are heading back on the road. B.C. Here we come. I have been trying to catch some sun the last couple of days after working my wonderful day job? It's a beautiful day in Edmonton today. 20 degrees. Yeaaah. I don't want to bore you all with the weather so I am on my way out the door to practice. we are playing the Sidetrack on Saturday so we have to get cracking. See you all soon.

Donna Summer vs. Black Sabbath and Siouxie's Eye-Make-up
This entry is about nothing in particular... We're thinking about covering Black Sabbath...this could be very very good. I'm working on Ozzy vocals. Ahem: "SHARON!!" Good. Sounds fab. I'm having a hard time not using iTunes radio streaming- i'm addicted. The 80's are new again and my childhood LP experience is coming back here. Donna Summer's on right now - wait - no - INXS. This is insane. Duran Duran look like they did in 1985...Nik Kershaw isn't anywhere to be found and Boy George was spinning records down the street from my apartment a few months back...Siouxie and her Banshees will probably call to borrow some eye-liner. Gotta go. WHAM!'s on.
Eyes Burning, Heart happy- april 17
Our rehearsal was wunderbar! I am most happy when grooving in the pocket or racing down sweet single track on my bike. When both happen in one day, I am one lucky camper. It was a tough day of working 10 hours at the ole day job, chowing down a fish burger, and then ripping it up on gitar for 3 hours. Our rehearsal went super smooth and the Sidetrack is going to be most grand. Now, i am going to sleep away my burning eye syndrome. I hope the guys from Ponoka are coming.
The Sun- April 16
"The sun will shine again tomorrow". My dad told me this on the phone. He is a wise man.
MBIKO PHOTOS
I am so totally honored to be part of this site: http://www.mbiko.com/larahill/index.html . Lara Hill and I met in a wierd and wonderful way through some friends in Holland and came together to create what you see. Who knew we lived in the same city and knew the same peeps? It took 4 flights over the big pond and lots of pickeled herring but we found each other. Mind, this is just a fraction of the pictures and film and time we spent together doing this project. The beauty of it is that it isn't over as we'll still work together until we're 80 on this journey of sound and sight. Lara is the only Photographer to ever capture my essence, so to speak- this takes a lot of work and a lot of trust.
Mastering Session Success- April 3
Got to sit in on a mastering breakdown today of new record. Sounds sooooo good. The record is very three dimensional.Chris Sturwold (AKA Skippy), our master masterer said that this record sets a new bar for Edmonton music. Yay! Good job ladies and Joby! Now I must sleep cuz my eyes are burning and i am seeing three Apples.
